Developing autonomy and responsibility to improve efficiency

Banking / financeParis126,000 employees

The client's request

A cross-functional working group made up of high-potential leaders was set up to address the development of autonomy and responsibility at work.

The aim is to create an impact on the organisation by unlocking potential and significantly improving operational efficiency.

Our response

We proposed an approach in 3 steps:

  1. Establish team diagnoses to improve their performance and anchor new or better practices:
    • Inspiration / projection session,
    • Managerial maturity audit,
    • Manager debrief,
    • Qualitative team debrief + co-construction of the improvement plan over a half-day,
    • Practice-anchoring workshops over 1 day.
  2. Position autonomy as a principle of behaviour rooted in the values, culture and beliefs at work in the organisation
  3. Position these behaviours in relation to the organisation's governance model, itself driven by the value-creation processes supported by the strategy and, finally, the organisation's purpose.

Result

Société Générale's working group activated levers of autonomy and responsibility within the organisation, generating a significant impact on operational efficiency. By positioning strong values and structuring rituals, the company strengthened its collective leadership and its operational results.
